About

Hi everyone. Well I got married the December after graduation and moved to California for a brief 4 months then on to the Dallas, Texas ever since. We have two children. Natalie will be 27 this June and Chris will be 25 this June. Worked in program management for Alcatel (telecommunications) for the last 11+ years and got caught in one of the lay-offs last year. Now I'm trying to find out what I want to be when I grow up!

About

I truly owe a debt of gratitude to the staff at Oak School, Indian Trail and Addison Trail High School for teaching me the skills that allowed me to succeed at a wide variety of tasks, especially the ability to communicate in writing.
I never knew the proverbial question of what I wanted to be when I grew up so out of high school, I followed Tim Waugh to Eastern Illinois University as a Physics Major and I traveled home on the weekends to work at Barrett Tool and Die. Later I followed Tim to El Paso, Texas, worked in a car dealership detailing cars while trying to establish my residency to obtain in-state tuition while living with Tim's parents. That didn't work, so I moved back to Illinois, met my son's mother Tami, and headed to Miami to start Barrett's Landscaping in a "66" Mercury Comet with an overloaded 1 wheel trailer in tow with all my earthly belongings. Luckily, a $500.00 tax refund check afforded me the opportunity to once again return to Addison after another failed attempt to "move away". With that check, I drove back to Addison, contacted Stu Bagni, Greg’s dad, and rented an apartment across from the Stardust bowling alley. After paying rent and groceries, I had about $150.00 left. Financially speaking, this was the bottom in my life. I spent another $30.00, bought stencils, a gallon of white paint, red and blue spray paint and proceeded to “work the streets” painting house numbers on the curbs for the rest of the summer in the patriotic colors red, white and blue for the bicentennial. I enrolled at George Williams College during the fall semester of “76" on a grant as a desperate, poor, independent married student. It was great being in school again, in fact I played college level baseball as a starting pitcher and I was a pre-med major carrying a full load plus I drove a Limo on the weekends. Tami worked for a Doctor in Oakbrook as a nanny. Basically, we were a couple of kids growing up together during those years, acting on impulse at an early age. A year and a half later after pulling a 4.0 for 3 semesters, I found myself under a damaged 1976 Toyota Corona Mark II trying to change a starter in a snowstorm at Christmas break. After a frustrating and frozen experience, I packed up our belonging, gypsy style, in my current “67" Chevy Van, with another van in tow, Tami driving the damaged Toyota, and we were off to Fort Garland, Colorado. We left during one of the worst ice storms you could imagine. Fourteen hours later, we got as far as Iowa since the freeways were iced over and speeds were kept under 35 mph. When we finally arrived in Pueblo, Colorado, Archie Neil put us up at his dorm room the University of Southern Colorado. Tami’s dad dragged our accommodations, an old hay shed, across the high deserts of southern Colorado near Fort Garland to his land parcel. That would be our home for about 6 weeks. This home featured spacious cardboard stapled interiors and a pot belly stove for heat. My job there was to install running water and septic systems for squatters of government owned land. Not my cup of tea! We went back to Pueblo where Archie was at and I worked in an automobile lamp manufacturer for about 2 months, didn’t like that, so it was back to good ole’ Addison and my dad’s company, Barrett Tool and Die. My Gypsy days were just about over though. In 1979 Tami became pregnant with my son Justin and I prepared the nest by purchasing a modest townhouse in a new development in Hanover Park. Unfortunately, we were divorced 6 months later and I had full custody of my son. I left Barrett Tool and Die to work at some other tool and die companies. Unfortunately, the average work week for a good die maker is about 55 hours a week. That caused Justin to be the first one to daycare in the morning and the last to leave at closing. Justin’s mother was living in Las Vegas with her mom . She was a stay at home mom, so I let Justin move there. I followed within 6 months out to the L.A. area. My tool and die skills paid well in L.A. but once again the hours were long and I didn’t see much of Justin for the first year. I got off the “bench”, got into management and in a couple of years, I was running a company that made outdoor clotheslines. The hours were awesome. Four 10 hour days allowed me to travel often to Las Vegas to see Justin. Shortly afterwards, I met Carol, who’ll be with me at the reunion. We married after dating a year. She had my daughter in 1985 and we bought our first property, a mobile home in Cypress, Ca.. We used this as stepping stone to purchasing real property the following year. My Dad was still operating Barrett Tool and Die, but became ill with a kidney disease. We discussed a buyout, agreed to terms over the phone and up went the for sale sign on our Buena Park home. We bought a home on Lombard road between Driscol and A.T. and stayed only for 1 year because things didn’t work out for my purchase of Barrett Tool and Die. We sold the home on Lombard road and headed back to L.A. the night the big quake hit San Francisco during the World Series in 1989. I quickly found another management job at Concrete Tie, broke my ankle playing in a hardball league in Pasadena and studied to receive my real estate license during my recovery. That was in 1990. I worked two full time careers for 12 years afterwards and finally left the factory management job in 2003. I studied for my brokers license in 2000 and have been an independent real estate broker ever since. My son Justin moved to California in 1997 and was employed at Concrete until recently as he has just bought his first home and has relocated to Las Vegas. Jessica is graduating Kennedy High School in La Palma, class of 2004, and heading to Cal State Long Beach this Fall. I have stayed in touch with quite a few classmates and I’m looking forward to sharing memories and creating new moments to remember this summer!
We live for these moments! Life is good! See ya real soon!

About

My husband, Bob, and I met my junior year at SIU and married in July 81. Our daughter, Christine is a freshman at the University of Florida in Gainesville; our 15-year old son is a high school sophomore. I had a career BC (before children) but chose to be a stay-at-home mom until about 3 years ago. After trying on a couple of different careers, I am now blissfully underemployed with a part time job that affords me plenty of time off!! I'm still crazy--or so I'm told--and now get to embarrass my children. Paybacks are hell! We've lived in Florida 16 years this April. Looking forward to seeing everybody!

About
I graduated from the University of Illinois in 1978 with a degree in Psychology. I married my husband, Bob, in 1981. We met while attending UofI. We lived in Peoria and Springfield, Illinois before ending up in Milwaukee where we have lived since 1986. I have two beautiful children, both girls, Amanda(14) and Michelle(10). I've used my degree in lots of himan service jobs, the last one being a supervisor of an Adult Day Care program for Goodwill Industries of Milwaukee. I left this job in 1995 to be home full time with my children. I now run a Certified Day Care out of my home and daily get my "baby fix" taking care of little ones. This allows me to be home for my not so little ones who seem to need me less and less every day. My husband and I have big extended families that we visit often and enjoy. We are planning a second trip to England this summer, hopefully without children. We own a home in Brown Deer, WI, and are beginning to plan for retirement, after paying for two children in college. Will we live that long????? I continue to be amazed at how happy I am living my ho-hum life. My best so everyone and I hope lots of people make it to the reunion.

About
I got a degree in computer science at William and Mary and then spent the next 20+ years in the software development field, working and living in the Washington DC area, Redondo Beach, California and Dallas, Texas. During that time, I was married for 10 years and retired for 6 months in Hawaii, but neither the retirement nor the marriage worked out. In 2001 I got laid off from my Internet company position, which turned out to be the best thing that happened to me! After taking a break for a few months, I decided what I really wanted to do when I grew up was work in a library. I got my masters in library science from Texas Woman’s University in 2003 and since then have been happily working at Elon University in North Carolina. I love to read (of course!), travel and spend time with friends.

About
I graduated in 1978 from Illinois State University with a degree in Education. I taught from 1978 to 2000, most of those years at Army Trail School in Addison. In the year 2000, I took a break to spend time with my mom, who had Alzheimers, and to be home with my own children. During that time, I was a volunteer in their schools and substitute teacher. Next year I will be returning to the classroom in Naperville District #203.
In 1980, I married Paul Rosso (Class of 1975). We currently live in St. Charles, Illinois. We were blessed with four wonderful children, 3 boys and 1 girl. Our oldest son, Michael, is 18 and will be attending the University of Iowa in the fall. Our second son, Christopher, is 16 and a junior at St. Charles North High School. Our third son, Brandon, passed away 11 years ago at the age of 2 months. He was a SIDS death. Our youngest, Angela, is 9 years old and will be in 4th grade in the fall.
It's hard to believe it's been 30 years since high school. Like everyone else, our jobs, children and their activities, along with family and friends have kept us busy over those 30 years. I hope to be at the reunion to see some familiar faces and old friends.
Thanks to Don and his committee for putting this together. It's a great undertaking!!

About
After two moves across county, I finally settled in Huntsville, Alabama in 1989. It was like moving to my 2nd home since I visited every year here in my youth. I divorced in 1992 after 11 years of marriage. I’ve been working as a legal assistant for 8 years and for the City Attorney’s Office for the past 3. Finally found that job I want to retire in. (Guess they’ll have to wheel me in to collect that gold watch on retirement day.)

About
Am a Telecommunications Administrator at Fermilab. Been married for 18 years to a 1972 graduate Walter Cwiklik (Grace's brother) with two children, Chelsea (16), and Ryan (14), one Dog (Dusty), two mice (Paris & Nichole), one Bunny (Tess), and a partridge in a pear tree. We went to a neighborhood party back in summer of 2002 themed "High School Reunion" where everyone had to dress as they did in High School. Sadly, I still had a top, shorts, and bead necklace from those days. Even more sadly, the shorts no longer fit. Once all realized that the graduation photo was indeed me and not my daughter, they were kind enough to say I hadn't changed a bit.

About
Hi, What have I been doing for the past 30 years? Well I attended the University of Illinois, in Chicago, where I earned a BS in Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance in 1978. I lived in Chicago (southwest side), and taught at Alvernia Catholic High School, on the north side, for 3 years. I then decided that I wanted to teach at the elementary level and got a job at the Academy of the Sacred Heart on Sheridan Rd. I taught k-8 there for 12 years. During my 8th year at Sacred Heart, I moved out to Bartlett, IL, and I commuted every day into the city and back. After doing that for a little over 2 years I said "good bye to the nuns" and entered "public education". For the past 10 years I have been teaching at Meadowdale Elementary School in Carpentersville, IL. In fact, I was just awarded a grant by the Foundation for Excellence in Education to continue my work in "Brain research and action-based learning". I'm single and have a 9 year old, 4 legged, daughter- Zoe, a big old chocolate lab! In my spare time I enjoy gardening, going to flea markets and estate sales. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone!

Conrad Chao

Phoenix, Arizona

About
Hello everybody! I was thrilled to stumble upon this website and to read about how everybody is doing. I'm glad to hear how well people seem to have fared over the years. Recently I was appointed Director of Maternal and Fetal Medicine at Maricopa Integrated Health System in Phoenix, Arizona. Most of the time I take care of undocumented immigrant women who are pregnant with maternal complications such as diabetes, high blood pressure, lupus, etc., or fetal problems like twins, congenital malformations, genetic problems, and so on. I have worked with underprivileged Hispanic patients my entire career and I love taking care of them. My wife is Puerto Rican and she helps me with my Spanish. I teach medical students from the University of Arizona as well as OB/Gyn residents, direct clinical research projects, and work on business development for my company and my hospitals.

After I left AT I went to Michigan State and Illinois Wesleyan, graduating with a degree in Biology, and then went to medical school at the University of Illinois in Chicago. I served my internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology in Torrance, California at Los Angeles County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. I received my postdoctoral and subspecialty training in maternal and fetal medicine and physiology at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California, and at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. I then ventured into the Ivy League as assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University. At that time I was very interested in brain research and worked on the effects of cocaine and sound stimulation on the fetal brain. During my stay in New York City, I played the violin at weddings and parties to make some extra cash. After five years I just could not take New York any more so I returned to Torrance and a position on the faculty at UCLA. Eventually I got tired of neuroscience and took a clinical position as co-chief of Maternal and Fetal Medicine at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California prior to my present position in Phoenix.

Sylvia and I were married at the Castillo Serralles in Ponce, Puerto Rico in 2002. She is an artist and a musician. We don't have any human children, but we do have four cats (three sphynx and a chartreux), two dogs, and a green winged macaw. Our interests include salsa dancing, opera, and travel. We love Phoenix, especially in the winter when the weather is nothing short of spectacular every day. We live across the street from US Senator John McCain but have managed to remain bleeding-heart Democrats. Recently Mr. Myers, my teacher from 11th grade English, was out here visiting relatives in Scottsdale and we went out to dinner with him and his wife. In the course of the conversation I made a grammatical error. Needless to say, everyone was horrified. I'm so sorry that I was unable to come to the reunion. I hope I can see some of you before another ten years goes by!
